The Ontario Government announced new legislation this morning, the “Working for Workers Act 2021” which, if passed would eliminate the use of non-compete clauses in employment agreements and force employers with more than 25 workers to establish “disconnect from work policies”. The “disconnect” policies are in response to the 29% of Ontario workers who work from home, which is the highest rate in the country.
This law would also establish the right for delivery drivers to use washrooms and regulate the temporary help and recruiting agencies.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!!
